Summer is not over yet! If you are still looking for last-minute arrangements, and you are travelling with children, we bring you our selection of top 5 beaches on the Adriatic where you can be sure that your children will enjoy themselves, and you will get some well-deserved rest.

RAJSKA PLAŽA (HEAVENLY BEACH), LOPAR, RAB ISLAND

Over kilometre and a half of soft sand and warm and clean sea is reason enough to make children happy. However, we all know how important it is to keep the children in the shade during the hottest period of the day – this beach is quite practical for its wide selection of nearby cafés and restaurants. Spend the middle of the day there, and then run off to the sea again, and again, and again… You can also rent out a pedal boat with a slide, which will surely delight the young ones, as well as those a bit older. At the end of the day, you can take a shower and change in one of the changing booths. ?

VELI ŽAL, MALI LOŠINJ, LOŠINJ ISLAND

The Veli Žal Beach is located on the island of Lošinj, only 1km away from the town of Mali Lošinj. The purity of the sea is guaranteed by the Blue Flag certificate, the beach is equipped with amenities (showers, changing booths, toilets) that will make your stay there with children a lot easier, and the lifeguards will keep an extra pair of eyes on your little ones. The entrance to the sea is gradual and lined with pebbles, and part of the beach is covered in stone slabs. Maybe the most important detail is that the beach is surrounded by a pine forest that provides the perfect recluse from the hot summer sun – ideal for the kids’ naptime accompanied by the sounds of crickets and the scent of resin and salt.

IČIĆI BEACH, IČIĆI

The main beach in Ičići, only 7 minutes’ drive from the centre of Opatija, is a pebble beach with a gradual entrance and plenty of sunbathing space (with umbrellas and deckchairs available for rent). Children will be particularly interested in the two playgrounds, and the adults will enjoy the sand volleyball court, pedal boats and kitesurfing. Of course, there are also cafés and restaurants, as well as a parking lot, toilets, showers, and even an ATM.

VELA PLAŽA, BAŠKA, KRK ISLAND

This natural pebble beach in Baška on the island of Krk spreads over 1800 metres, ensuring that everyone can find a spot. The beach has been proudly flying the Blue Flag since 1999. Apart from the shallow sea and easy access, the beach also features a water slide that is guaranteed to delight both younger and older children, and teenagers can take advantage of the public Wi-Fi. The gastronomic offer includes cafés, pastry shops, bakeries, pizza places, stands and classical restaurants, while the rich sports offer is complemented by a beach volleyball court, scooters, windsurfing, banana and tubes water-ski, jet-ski, and many other activities.

GRANIDOVAC BEACH, VIS, VIS ISLAND

Although not as massively popular as other beaches from this list, this pebble beach will appeal to those who prefer more quiet bays for their summer holiday. Located at the east entrance to the Vis Bay, it is accessible by car, and above it lies a thick pine forest and a couple of cacti. Due to the fact that the beach is a bit isolated, we would recommend it to parents of older children. When you get tired of swimming and lying in this pearl of nature, you can find refreshments at a nearby café.
